2001 Edition

Jubileo

Jubileo is a lily which is very interesting for selling as a garden lily, and selling as a cutflower. Using this lily in a direct mail garden guide will stimulate selling. The unique yellow-white combination is original, for it is the only asiatic with this colour. As a cutlily Jubileo is an easy to grow variety: enough length, more then enough buds. If you want to maintain the beautiful combination of yellow-white you will have to cut in a rather mature stage.

Miss Lucy

In July we showed Miss Lucy. Miss Lucy is the first double oriental ever on the market. Its fragile colour and big double flowers will attract many buyers. HQF will introduce the variety starting from crop 2003. Miss Lucy has no problems with leafscorce. Its length is comparable with Marco Polo, the stem is sturdy and the leaves are short. The stunning characteristic from Miss Lucy is its capability of being strong in the vase. More then 2 weeks in a vase is no problem.

If you are interested in Miss Lucy, ask us or ask your supplier.

Aquilla

Aquilla was shown in the August issue of FCI. Aquilla is a beautiful warm yellow asiatic lily with big flowers.
Aquilla is very strong on water and beats absolutely each yellow variety in this field. Aquilla is very fast and has short leaves Aquilla is the best yellow lily to solve your energy cost problem. For Summer production there are many good yellow varieties.
Aquilla is one of them and in that period is not better then then for instance Dreamland or Pollyanna. For use during Winter it beats every yellow variety in speed, stemquality, lack of sensibility for budfall. It is at least 30% faster then any other yellow variety you know. The leaves are so short that you can also plant 20% plants more per m2.

Marrakech

Marrakech is published in September. It is the best, and probably the only red lily.
Marrakech cannot be used in dark circumstances. So in the northern hemisphere do not plant it after August 31. The variety is a Hoffrica type and performs very well in hot circumstances. It can even be planted outside. It will always grow long enough.
Marrakech is very strong on the vase. The colour is attractive for Autumn use or for using during the Valentine period. If you use it for Valentine, it must be grown in areas with a lot of light, like Sicily, South Spain, South America, Mexico.

Lollypop

Lollypop is the most special colour combination HQF has developed. The lily is very attractive in garden guides and sells good for this use. Lollypop makes 3 to 4 flowers on a 12-14, but the size of the stem is different from normal cutlilies. Nowadays companies start to experiment with the variety, but they introduce it in another way then normal asiatics, for the stem is a lot shorter: 40 to 50 cm. You can use Lollypop easy as a potlily in summer periods. In Winter only if you are established in a country with a lot of sun, otherwise it will be too long. In the last five years Lollypop was the most expensive asiatic variety looking at the bulbprice: this tells clearly its requested position in the market.

Anne

Anne is the whitest asiatic lily which is available in the market since autumn 2000. The variety is introduced slowly, for Navona is a good competitor. It is better to start slow, do some good comparable tests, and if it performs better, raise your orders. Anne is a toplily with artificial light: it doesn't suffer from budfall when used in Winter. The size of the flower is appr. 20% bigger then Navona. Please compare the flowers. On a picture we compared 9 white varieties, including Navona and Anne. Please click here.
